FAQ

How white will my teeth get?
Everyone’s smile is different, so results can vary from person to person. The outcome depends on factors such as your natural tooth colour, enamel structure, age, and lifestyle habits. Some people experience a visible improvement in brightness, while others may notice a more subtle change.

It’s also important to know that whitening will not change the colour of crowns, veneers, fillings, or bridges. Because of this, a professional assessment is always carried out beforehand to determine suitability for treatment.
At The Whitening Lab, all treatments are provided by a registered Oral Health Therapist using TGA-approved, dental-grade products under strict clinical protocols. While results cannot be guaranteed, you will always be given realistic advice about what to expect.

How long do the results last?
Whitening can last 6–12 months (and often longer), depending on your diet, lifestyle, and oral care routine. Regular cleans and avoiding staining foods/drinks (like coffee, red wine, or smoking) can help your results last longer.

Is teeth whitening safe?
Teeth whitening is generally considered safe when performed by a registered dental clinician using appropriate products. At The Whitening Lab, all treatments are carried out using TGA-approved, dental-grade products under strict clinical hygiene protocols. Suitability is always assessed prior to treatment, and some people may experience temporary tooth sensitivity or gum irritation.

 Does whitening work on everyone?
Not everyone is suitable. Whitening does not change the colour of crowns, veneers, fillings, or bridges, and some dental or gum conditions may make whitening unsuitable. That’s why we perform a professional dental consultation before any treatment.

Will whitening make my teeth sensitive?
Some clients experience mild sensitivity during or after whitening. Sesitivity can be temporary, and usually resolves within 24–48 hours. We provide aftercare advice and products to help manage sensitivity if it occurs.

Do I need a clean before whitening?

For best results, we recommend having a professional clean first. Plaque or tartar can block the whitening gel from working evenly. During the dental assessment, we can advise you if you require a dental clean to remove plaque and tartar (calculus) and recommend ways to prevent it from returning.

How long does a whitening session take?
Most treatments take 70-90 minutes including your assessment, shade check and teeth whitening treatment.

Can I do teeth whitening at home?
Yes, we offer The Whitening Lab – At-Home Radiance Kit (with LED Light). This option is convenient and allows you to top up your whitening when you like.

 How much does it cost?
We offer different teeth whitening packages to suit your needs. You can see our full pricing on the Teeth Whitening Treatments page.
Most treatments take 80-90 minutes including your teeth whitening suitability assessment, shade check and teeth whitening treatment.

What is the difference between professional whitening and salon whitening?
Professional whitening is delivered using dental-grade whitening systems and includes an assessment of your oral health. Many cosmetic salon treatments use lower-strength products and do not involve a dental assessment.

What can I expect during my appointment?
Each appointment includes a consultation, whitening treatment where suitable, and aftercare advice. Treatments typically take around 60–90 minutes.

Whitening results vary between individuals. Teeth Whitening is not suitable for everyone. All treatments are provided within the scope of an Oral Health Therapist. Information on this website is general in nature and does not replace personalised clinical advice. Fees are current as of 2026 and may be updated periodically. Final costs are confirmed before your appointment.
